There are four major reasons why you might be interested in valuing part or all of your wine cellar. First, if it is valued at over $20,000, you should probably obtain standalone wine insurance. See Wine Enthusiast article for details. Secondly, if you want to dispose of some of your wines at Auction, they will need to be appraised first. Thirdly, a valuation may be required for estate purposes, and fourthly, if you want to sell your wines in the USA or abroad. Note that intra Canadian sales are currently not allowed. See also Private Sales of Wine.
