The New York State Wines site is a good starting point for obtaining detailed information on wine experiences such as wine tours and tastings, wineries, vineyards, picnics, local restaurants, and accommodation. The site has a section for each of its five wine regions – Long Island; Finger Lakes; Hudson River; Niagara Escarpment; and Lake Erie
For Torontonians, the Finger Lakes region is a great weekend excursion from Toronto. The region is divided into four sub regions. See the Canandaigua Lake; Cayuga Lake; Keuka Lake and Seneca Lake wine trail sites for full details including the wineries around the lake; trail events, restaurants, accommodation etc. I particularly recommend Keuka Lake. Hammondsport, at the south end of the lake, is a great place to stay and/or dine out.
If you don’t want to drive, Quality Winery Tours provides standard winery tours seven days a week to Finger Lakes wineries. Or you can customize your own tour. You can choose from a Luxury Sedan, Limousine, Van or Mini Bus.
If you are in the Watkins Glen area in July, check out the Finger Lakes Wine Festival for a variety of New York State wine experiences. It offers the largest showcase of New York State wines with over 80 wineries, wine seminars, regional artisans, culinary classes and live bands.
Other USA wine regions worth visiting are California and Pacific Northwest which includes Oregon and Washington State.
